Sometimes we are so eager to release our video, we forget simple important steps. Here is a reminder.

Always use a clickable link in your video description.

For example a great magician, Blake, released this video.

It is the type of video that might do well and get shared.

But when you look at his description he… kinda missed something.

can't click links in youtube description

None of the links are clickable. That was the entire purpose of making the video. It is a compilation of quick tricks he shares on social media and an invitation to follow him on social media. But none of the links are clickable.

So to follow him I need to:

  1. Select his username.
  2. Open a new tab
  3. Navigate to the website
  4. Search his username
  5. Click follow.

If he had just made the links clickable, it would be 2 steps.

  1. Click the link.
  2. Click follow.

You have to include the http:// at the beginning. Even his www.blackvogt.com is not clickable because he didn’t add the http://.

So always, always, always make your links clickable. If you take the time to add a link, take the time to make it clickable.

UPDATE: Blake saw my comment, responded and fixed his links. Hooray! High five. ✋🏼
