Warning! If you don’t make quality videos, this post will not help you at all. Quality videos need to be valuable. Help, entertain, inspire, teach, show, demonstrate. Whatever you do, just make sure it is valuable FIRST then promote it second.

So, you made an awesome video, but it doesn’t help anyone if they don’t see it. You need to promote your video with just as much effort as it took to make it.

You need to know what your video is about. Does it have a theme? Lets say you made a video about how to cook your family recipe.

First place to promote your video to:

Friends and family. Do you know anyone who likes the recipe, or your type of video, or cooking in general? Send them a direct message. Put it on their wall, in a message, text it to them. Ask for feedback. Ask them to subscriber. If they say no, ask them why and use that to get better.

Next place: Reddit. But specifically subreddits. Find one about cooking, family, secret recipes. Then contribute something. DO NOT just dump your link and say check it out. Ask a question, tell them what you learned. Good luck, Reddit is hard, lots of people there hate everything. So put on your thick skin armour and try it.

Next place: Facebook groups. Same rules. Find groups about cooking, or whatever the topic of your video is. Contribute for a while. Maybe even ask the moderator directly if it is ok to put a link to your video in a post from time to time. Be nice. Don’t just say check it.

Next place: Other YouTube channels. Same rules. Contribute to the discussion. Don’t just say check my video. If your username is clear that you focus on the topic people will check you out. Do collabs with other similar channels. Even over Skype if you can’t meet up.

Another potential place to promote is other websites. This one takes a lot of work. You are going to find 1 site that is a fit for your best video, then you are going to email the editor of the site you want to post your video using the following script:

Hi [Editor]!

I made this video about [topic of the post]. It’s been a popular video for me and I think that the [THEIR SITE] audience would love it as well.

See what you think: [URL OF VIDEO]

If you enjoy it, I’d love to see it posted on [THEIR SITE].
This one takes a lot of work and you probably won’t see a ton of success. Maybe 1 site in 10 will post it. And you have to make sure the video would actually be super valuable to the site. Don’t just spam ever site you read. Select, focus, and provide value.
And last place to promote is forums. I am going to sound like a broken record here, but you can’t just pop in, bomb a URL and leave. Join. Provide value. Interact, then make a post that provides value as well that includes your video. And only pick active forums. Look for a good number of people online at the same time, and recent activity.
As you can see, the formula to promote your YouTube videos is be nice, provide value, don’t just dump, and find niches.
